Skippy’s eyes fluttered open, the young monkey groaning as he sat up. When his hazy, drowsy vision finally cleared, he saw Bramble, smiling at him as he held out another bowl of chopped fruit. Skippy managed to refrain from yelping in shock at the unfamiliar sight.
“Good morning, Skippy. I brought you some breakfast.”
Nodding, Skippy accepted the food with gratitude. When he ate, he managed to exercise a more controlled pace, feeling slightly embarrassed at how ravenous he appeared the other night.
“So…” Skippy asked once he handed the now empty bowl back to the gorilla. “…What exactly is this place, anyway?”
“This is my home, known as the Verdant Crest.”
Skippy tilted his head in confusion, looking down at the stolen crown. “But…I thought this thing was called the Verdant Crest.”
“Both are. This place was named after the artifact you’re currently holding. Anyways, are you ready to go?” Seeing Skippy nod, Bramble suggested “Why don’t you ride on my shoulder? My Jungle Savvy will allow me to navigate the Vale, but you’d likely get lost if we’re not together at all times.”
The rebellious side bristled at being treated like a child. However, his rational side remembered how going alone caused him to get banged and bruised by the jungle itself. Swallowing his pride, Skippy hopped onto Bramble’s shoulder, his tail loosely wrapping against the back of the gorilla’s neck.
“Alright…” Bramble declared with an excited grin. “To the Canopy of Echoes!”
