Skippy groaned, trudging through the swamps of the Mudglass Fissure. Mud and dirt stuck to his fur, giving it an almost slimy texture. Seeing the young monkey’s struggle, Bramble chuckled, picking him up and placing him on his shoulder.
“Yeah, even for me, the Mudglass Fissure isn’t the easiest part of the Verdant Vale to navigate.”
Looking down at Bramble’s legs, Skippy could see Bramble was right. Even the gorilla guardian’s powerful gait was slowed by the dense marsh, if only marginally.
“Why are we even traveling through this bog?” Skippy asked, his legs dangling in front of Bramble’s torso.
“During the Ironclad Consortium’s invasion ten years ago, they apparently found one of the ancient relics known as the Thornpiercer Gauntlet. According to the Trinity, the Consortium’s forces modified it with some of their own machinery. But they were forced to flee after an earthquake caused the Ironclad Tower to sink into the ground. Ever since, it’s apparently been sitting in their vault ever since, deep below the swamps of the Mudglass Fissure.”
“So they corrupted one of the Vale’s treasures…” Skippy’s brow furrowed as he turned towards the gorilla guardian. “But wait…why would you want to use one of your treasures that’s been turned into a machine by these Ironclad Consortium guys? I figured you hated machines, especially after what they did to your home.”
